Our political experts and jholey patrakars seem to think that our Balen government is a threat to Loktantra. I say absolutely not! Our government is a threat to loot-tantra, and most of us are incredibly happy with the way the country is moving forward.
Gone are the golden days of loot-tantra filled with hawa-taari speeches and free lunches for jholeys. Today, the only thing being served is accountability, and it tastes delicious.
Worse Than Manpower Agencies? Enter the Edu-Mafia
Today, let’s talk about our great educational consultancies. While manpower companies extort a few lakhs from our folks when the actual cost is a meager 10,000 with free visas and tickets, our so-called education wallahs seem to extort far more from students dreaming of going abroad.
Honestly, our edu-folks seem to be worse than manpower agencies. They pocket fat commissions from foreign schools and still charge extra for "processing fees" and other ridiculous nataks. They act like they are doing us a massive favor. But listen up: if our students, in this brilliant day and age of digital transformation, simply took their time to fill out the application forms themselves and communicate directly with their dream schools, they would save a few lakhs of their parents' hard-earned money.
The Lost Art of Doing It Yourself
If you go back to the early 90s, we did not have these so-called educational consultancies. It was mostly the snail-mail thing, not even emails! Most students back then either applied for scholarships or wrote directly to the schools, received the forms, and applied themselves. They didn't get lazy and let some suit-wearing middleman do their job for them.
69 Shady Operators and the Licensing Fix
Recently, our Nepal Police arrested 69 education consultancy operators. Guess what? Most of them did not even have a license to operate! I think we have to be strict on this. It is not just them; any business—be it small, big, mini, or macro—must have a license.
Our municipalities could generate tons of revenue if every local chiya pasal, cycle wallah vendor selling panipuri, or kawadi buyer registered with local authorities and paid an annual fee. Let them work out a tax bracket for their self-declared income. If they don’t comply, the fines should be heavy: 100 days of cleaning up the Bagmati River if you are in Kathmandu, or digging ditches if you are in Dharan! Harka Sampang would love the extra hands.
Beverly Hills Dreams on Meter-Byazi Reality
If you look at the FB pages of many education consultancy wallahs, they are living the good life as if they are in Beverly Hills. Foreign vacations, luxury SUVs, and non-stop fun—all funded by extorting parents.
It is a nightmare for our students because many consultancies tie up with fake colleges that can't even attract students from their own lands. Our students struggle to find part-time jobs and rooms, while back home, parents sell their gold, land, or take loans from predatory meter-byazis just to fund the overseas dream.
The Dawn of Hope
We spend $1 billion a year sending kids abroad. We cannot stop them from leaving; everyone has the right to study wherever they want. But the recent crackdown on these mafia consultancies is a beautiful sign. This government is not just going after political jholeys and corrupt judges, but also the mafia byaparis in manpower, transport, medical, and education sectors.
This is not the end of democracy. This is the beginning of the end of Mafia Raj. Balen is no dictator. If you look at Prachanda, Oli, and Deuba, you realize that for decades, these three stooges acted as dictators for their own parties. They slept in the same bed to keep the country poor, forcing citizens abroad just to survive. The tide is turning, and hope is finally back in Nepal!
Jai Nepal!
