Is anyone else finding the sudden "outrage" from the old-guard media absolutely hilarious, or is it just me?

For thirty years, we watched broke revolutionaries crawl out of hiding, move into Kathmandu, and somehow end up owning half the city and driving SUVs worth more than a small village's GDP. Back then, the media wallahs and the party jholeys (henchmen) stayed silent. They didn't blink when the "Big Three" disclosed wealth that clearly didn't match their official salaries. But now? Now that Balen’s cabinet has actually disclosed their assets, everyone is a forensic accountant.

The Hypocrisy of the "Shocked"

The old school cadres are "shocked" that some of the new ministers—like Home Minister Sudan Gurung—actually have money.

  • The Old Way: Politicians like Deuba and Oli always claim their wealth belongs to their spouses or was "gifted." Deuba is currently in "medical treatment" in Hong Kong/Singapore—which, let’s be honest, looks more like a financial consultation on how to hide the loot than a check-up.

  • The New Way: Our current leaders came from successful careers in tech, social service, or are sitting on ancestral land. Unlike the old-timers who "looted the State" to feed their cousins and contractors, these guys had lives before politics.

The jholeys are whining because their source of government grants and "setting" jobs has dried up. They’re targeting Sudan Gurung because he’s busy chasing down the very crooks they serve.

Let’s Get Real About the "Sampati"

Does it matter if PM Balen has a Karod in the bank or if a minister has ancestral gold?

Ayo Gorkhali Reality Check: Having wealth isn't the crime. Stealing wealth from the public treasury is the crime.

If there are land ceiling issues or "Phewa Lake" style controversies, let the regulatory bodies do their jobs. But questioning their choice of clothes or how much land their great-grandfather left them? That’s just noise from people who are pissed they can’t get a free lunch anymore.

The Standard is Higher Now

We demand transparency, and we got it. But we also need to be fair.

  1. Conflict of Interest: One minister was already shown the door because of his wife’s appointment. Even if she was qualified, the Balen government isn't taking chances with the "nepotism" flavor. This is the level of accountability we’ve been craving for decades.

  2. Focus on the Future: Instead of gossiping about how many tolas of gold the PM’s family owns, let’s focus on our own bills and our own hustle.

The old parties and their media mouthpieces are desperate to prove the new guys are "just like them." They aren't. Being born into property is not the same as stealing a country's future.

Bottom line: Keep the new guys accountable, sure—but don't let the "old school" distract you with their fake outrage. They aren't mad about the wealth; they’re mad they aren't the ones stealing it anymore. Jai Nepal!
