If you thought your weekend was dramatic because you ran out of chiya leaves, wait until you see what’s happening at Shilpee Theatre. They are staging ‘Sickle Cell’, a play directed by Sumit Bhandari that promises to dig deep into the messy, complicated, and often hilarious "aspects of our society".

Forget the predictable TV serials; this is live theater that actually makes you think. It's called 'Sickle Cell', and while that might sound like a biology lesson, we guarantee the emotional cells in your body will be doing a lot more work than your textbooks ever did. Whether you're a theater snob or someone who just wants to see if the actors forget their lines (they won't, they're pros), this is the cultural boost your Instagram feed—and your brain—needs.

Don't be that person who finds out about it through a spoiler. Grab a seat, support local art, and let’s see what Sumit and the crew have cooked up for us.

The Logistics (Mark Your Calendars):

  • When: April 26 to May 11

  • Where: Shilpee Theatre, Kathmandu

  • Time: 5:15 pm sharp (Show up early, or you’ll be the one providing the unintentional comedy in the dark)

  • Entry: Rs500 to Rs1,000 (Cheaper than a fancy platter of momos, and way more soul-filling)

Support the arts, understand the struggle, and keep the Gorkhali spirit alive in the front row!
