Most of us spend Sunday mornings regretting our Saturday night life choices, but this weekend, you get to regret them while sprinting. The mela kicks off with a morning run that starts at the ungodly hour of 6:00 AM. Yes, you read that right. While normal, sane human beings are still aggressively hitting the snooze button, you will be pounding the pavement in the name of culture. It is the perfect opportunity to sweat out last night’s bad decisions before you spend the rest of the day acquiring new ones.
The Green Rush: Battle of the 300
If you survive the morning cardio crisis, the real hunger games begin at the bazaar. The organizers are dangling a massive carrot: free mehendi for the first 300 guests. Expect high-stakes drama, intense elbowing, and Aunties moving with a speed that defies the laws of physics. If you want that free green stain of honor on your palms without paying a single rupee, you better channel your inner Gorkhali warrior. Miss the cut, and you’ll just have to awkwardly stare at other people’s intricately decorated hands while smelling intensely of eucalyptus oil.
Shop, Snack, and Preach Patience
Once your hands are freshly painted and completely useless for the next three hours, it’s time to navigate the bazaar. Good luck trying to eat local street food or browse the shopping stalls without ruining the wet paste on your skin. It’s a beautifully designed trap of delicious aromas and cultural festivities where you will inevitably end up with chutney on your elbow and mehendi on your nose. The bazaar goes on until 9:00 PM onwards, giving you plenty of time to question your life choices under the ambient lights of Sanepa.
