Listen up, Kathmandu! Are you tired of staring at your glowing rectangle of a phone while the city slowly turns into a humid, moldy petri dish? Well, do we have an escape for you. On June 21, 2026, instead of doing something useful—like, say, actually working or pretending to fix your crumbling life—join us for Monsoon Observations. We’re heading to the Ranibari Community Forest from 9 AM to 11 AM. Yes, that’s a Sunday morning. We know, your social battery is at 2% after a Saturday night of questionable decisions, but trust us, the mosquitoes in the forest are waiting to meet you.
Why Are We Doing This?
Organized by the folks at @danfearts, this event is exactly what it sounds like: a nature walk and painting session. Because nothing screams "peak artistic expression" quite like trying to balance a canvas while fighting off a downpour in a forest that smells like damp earth and existential dread. It’s the perfect setting to contemplate why we haven’t fixed the potholes yet, all while attempting to capture the "majesty" of a rain-soaked fern before your paints turn into a muddy soup. It’s fun, it’s artistic, and it’s a great way to prove to your followers that you’re "connected with nature," even if you spent the whole two hours swatting away leeches.
The Logistics (The Only Serious Part)
For the low, low price of Rs 550, you get to wander through the woods and pretend you’re a 19th-century landscape painter instead of someone just trying to survive another monsoon season. The entry fee covers your access to the forest and, mercifully, some light refreshments. Whether those refreshments will be enough to distract you from the reality that you’re paying to get rained on in a community forest is up for debate, but hey, at least you’ll have a snack while you watch your watercolors bleed into oblivion.
Don't Be Boring
So, drag yourself out of bed, put on some shoes that you don't mind ruining, and come join the chaos. It’s a Sunday, it’s raining, and the forest is waiting. It beats sitting at home watching the walls sweat. Let’s make some art, let’s get slightly damp, and let’s see if we can find some inspiration amidst the humidity. Or, at the very least, you’ll get some decent photos for your feed. See you there, if you aren't too busy melting!
